With fibre broadband into the gigabit society
Broadband expansion is well advanced in the Coesfeld district
Thanks to the goal of bringing fibre broadband to every corner of the district, the stakeholders in the Coesfeld district are consistently tackling broadband expansion. Since 2010, wfc has been supporting local authorities, network operators, companies and citizens in the expansion of future-proof digital infrastructure – with the firm goal of “fibre broadband for everyone – nationwide!”. Fibre broadband is now already available to around 85% of all addresses, and in nine out of ten cases in industrial estates and rural districts. The situation at schools is even better: Here, all buildings are already networked or will be once the current projects have been completed.
Overall, fibre broadband coverage in the Coesfeld district will be at around 95% of addresses once all current expansion activities have been completed.
Digitalisation requires high growth rates
Optical fibre transports data at extremely high bandwidths with low energy consumption and at almost the speed of light. Even if many current bandwidth requirements can currently still be covered by copper networks, digitisation is leading to growth rates that can only be covered by fibre to the home (FFTB/ FTTH).
